Glaxo Testing Paxil on 7-Year-Olds Despite Suicide Risks
It is well established that Paxil carries a risk of suicide in children and teens. Nonetheless, GlaxoSmithKline has been conducting a study of the antidepressant using children as young as seven. If they’re bad, expect the company to dismiss them in favor of the primary endpoint results.â€

This groundbreaking new research provides further evidence of the need for intervention with suicidal teens. It is based on data from 153 males from higher-crime neighborhoods who were assessed yearly from ages 10 to 32, and their romantic partners who participated when the men were ages 18 to 25. read more

Antidepressant Type Doesn't Influence Suicide Risk

Now the instructions for all the drugs carry a prominent warning of the hazard. But are some antidepressants riskier than others? No, says a study just published in the Archives of General Psychiatry. Researcher combed through the records for 288,000 adults starting antidepressant treatment in British Columbia during a nine-year period. During their first year on antidepressants, 751 people attempted suicide and 104 killed themselves. There were no significant differences in suicides...
